Many exciting things are happening here at ttcInnovations — one of those being a new addition to our Innovator team. Meet Carrie, our new account executive for *drumroll please* a division of ttcInnovations that will be launching next Monday, October 15th! If you aren’t signed up already, head here to receive email updates about this new way for learning leaders to augment & empower teams with Extra Hands You Don’t Have to Hold™. We are so grateful for Carrie’s eagerness to jump into the excitement alongside our team in preparation for this launch! Until we can share what it is, let’s “shake hands” with Carrie and get to know some fun facts about our latest and greatest Innovator!

Tell us about your career background before you came on as an Innovator?
I have had a very diverse and nonlinear career path. I’ve spent many years in corporate events, selling and producing. I’ve run my own business focused on events, space design and organization. In between “day jobs,” I have also pursued my first love of theater, acting and producing.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Well, as I mentioned, my “first love” is all things theater and language. So, in my free time, you’ll find me acting in a Reader’s Theater production or attending a poetry workshop or event. My friends, family and community causes are also deeply important to me, so much of my free time is spent with them or volunteering.

Coffee or tea? And how do you take it?
Both, depending on the time of day — coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon. Coffee: French press with cream and agave syrup. Tea: loose leaf, brewed with raw honey.

What three things might surprise us about you?

  • I don’t like fruit in my dessert.
  • I’m afraid of birds, but I save spiders.
  • I’m a second-generation Southern California native.

What’s your real-life superpower?
My authenticity coupled with fierce optimism. These qualities seem to inspire trust and give me credibility with friends and colleagues.

Which of our four core values resonates with you and why?
OK, I won’t do what I did with the coffee or tea question and pick all four… but I want to! If I must pick just one, it would be quality. In my definition, real quality is a product of the other three core values (innovation, integrity and responsiveness). I’ll choose “quality over quantity” every time.

What is the best professional advice you’ve ever received?
“Follow your heart.” It sounds so simple, but it can be a very difficult thing to do.

What’s one thing you think everyone should do in their lifetime?
Have an experience — volunteering, traveling, etc. — that takes you radically outside of your comfort zone and shifts or expands your perspective.

What are you most excited about in your new role?
Working with this talented team and sharing the unique and innovative L&D solutions we are developing and offering, with the wider community.
